Terms of use

Short version: Galley Wizard helps you plan. The skipper and the chef stay in charge of what goes aboard and onto the plate.

Last updated 7 October 2026. By using galleywizard.com or the Galley Wizard app you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use it.

1. A planning aid, not advice

Galley Wizard suggests meal plans, recipes, quantities, shopping lists, stowage and seasonal produce for sailing trips. It is a tool to help you plan — not professional, medical, nutritional or seamanship advice. You decide what to buy, cook, eat and carry, and you check that it makes sense for your boat, crew and passage.

2. Allergies, diets and food safety

  • Diet and allergen labels on recipes are a guide, based on typical ingredients. Products, brands and recipes vary and can contain traces of allergens. Always read the labels of what you buy and ask your crew about their allergies yourself.
  • Galley Wizard cannot guarantee any meal is free of an allergen. For severe allergies, coeliac disease or medical diets, follow your doctor's advice — and make sure anyone at risk carries their medication aboard.
  • Nutrition facts are estimates from the USDA FoodData Central database, for typical ingredients and portions. They are not dietary advice.
  • Storage, shelf-life and “use first” hints are general. Heat, humidity and a failing fridge change everything: look, smell and use common sense, and cook and store food safely.

3. Enough food and water at sea

Quantities, trip lengths guessed from your boat, and the safety margin are estimates. Passages take longer than planned. The skipper is responsible for carrying enough food, drinking water and emergency reserves for everyone aboard, for delays and for emergencies — whatever the app suggests. Galley Wizard is not a navigation or weather tool.

4. Information from others

Season calendars, prices, store and harbour information come from public sources (we name them) and from you. They can be out of date or wrong for your place and year. Recipes read from your photos by AI can be misread — check them before you cook.

5. Your account, your trips, your crew

  • You sign in with Google and are responsible for what happens in your account. Trip links work like keys: anyone you send one to can open that trip, so share them with your crew only.
  • You are responsible for what you and your crew add — recipes, photos, notes, feedback. Don't add anything you have no right to share, or anything unlawful or hurtful. We may remove content or close accounts that break these terms.
  • Please don't misuse the service: no attacks, scraping, overloading or getting around the limits of the free plan.

6. Passes and payment

  • Passes are sold through our payment partner — Stripe (Stripe Managed Payments), or LemonSqueezy for some earlier purchases — who acts as the seller (merchant of record): they take the payment, charge VAT and issue your receipt, and their buyer terms apply to the purchase. We never see your card details.
  • A Passage pass unlocks one trip, for you and everyone on it, for as long as that trip exists. A Season pass unlocks all your trips for a year and renews every year until you cancel. You can cancel any time (Pro page → “Manage or cancel”, or the link in your receipt); it keeps working until the end of the year you paid for.
  • Something not right? Write to us within 14 days of buying and we'll sort it out — including a refund where it's fair. Your rights under consumer law are not affected.
  • Prices are shown before you pay and may change for future purchases; a change never affects a pass you've already paid for.

7. The service as it is

We work hard to keep Galley Wizard running and correct, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. It works offline once a plan is saved, yet we can't promise it is always available, error-free or that your data can never be lost — keep a printed copy of the plan and the shopping list for long passages. We may change, add or remove features and the free plan; we won't take away what a pass you've paid for includes while it runs.

8. Limits of our liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss or harm that comes from using, or relying on, Galley Wizard — including illness, allergic reactions, food running short or spoiling, costs of provisioning, delays, or lost data — nor for indirect or consequential loss. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or nothing, for the free plan).

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — for example for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the date at the top says when. If a change matters to you, we'll say so in the app before it applies. Questions? Contact us.
